Well it's Monday morning.... and I know many of you look forward to reading an epic ride and story from me! Sorry to say, it was a quiet week. I literally didn’t get on my bike for 4 days. It was bliss. Then, 2 no sleep days crewing for Nicky and Emma on the COAST to COAST. It wasn’t horrible to crew, far from it, it was GREAT! But the crews have a heck of a job huh! Early starts and late nights. What an amazing event! Well done to all that finished and I'm sure there will be many crews making bets to each other to do it themselves next year! Competitors... WELL DONE!
Sunday I popped round the short bays. Man I feel SO fresh, although I pretty much suffered the whole way. I have always found that if I have to long off, I feel fresh but just have no power. So that’s the extent of the training. Over on the coast there were SO many people interested in this fundraising effort. It's very inspiring to hear people say the word “Cholmondeley” (chumley). While trying to raise $100,000 we are also trying to raise the profile of this wonderful home. It's working!
To all of you that have currently made a donation... THANK YOU! We have hit $10,000 so we are 10% there! Only 90k to go!
Today it's short bays summit a few times. Hoping for 3 or 4 times. Today is also my first massage from the amazing team at Christchurch Therapeutic Massage Centre. Heather and the team are going to take great care of me over the next month or so. They have so kindly donated their time to help me. Massages every Monday till the week of the ride! OMG, I can’t wait!
Have a great day! Please keep telling everyone you can! The kids need us... this is real!

Kia ora Scotty, and everyone else following this wonderful, crazy guy! My name is Mike, and I am the lucky guy who gets to work with the beautiful kids and fantastic staff, as GM of Cholmondeley Children's Home. What you are doing Scotty is absolutely unbelievable! Thank you so much! I often get people asking me how they can help with the work that we do, asking what it is that they can do to make a difference in the lives of kids who find life a bit tough through no fault of their own. But I've never had anyone offering to cycle a 1000kms for us before!
ReplyDeleteScotty you are amazing, a real inspiration to us all. Thank you so much for all that you are doing, and thank you to everyone who is getting behind this amazing guy. Please know that your assistance WILL make a difference. Our kids are not with us because they are naughty. They are with us because life has dealt them some rough cards, and it is up to us to help them get the best out of those cards they can. We have an amazing bunch of people to help us do that. If you want to know more, give me a shout on (0274)447320, and I'll tell you all about us!
Thanks again Scotty - you rock!
Scotty, the legs are looking fine but a little to much of the "non athletic food I think" gonna put up 50cents a k for your ride. Not sure I can trust you so might ride the first 500 and make sure you dont get in that car. Hate to give away 50cents that wasnt earned.
